Spring is in the air, and so are the spring bugs (insects). For most people this can be an annoyance as insects are attracted to indoor lights and can make a mess. It is also a time for wildflowers, which rely on the insects for pollination. There are many baby birds around that are also dependent on the insects to survive and flourish. I was pleased to find in my local Community Garden in Manjimup they have planted a wildflower garden, and there are many other flowers through the garden too. Some of the garden members have created a flower art installation, a display of attractive flowers and garden features that brightens the view. The latest edition to the flower art is a range of painted beneficial insects and it is a great place for children to play and learn about the natural environment.
